遊さんと知り合ってもうすぐ10年になる。
I met Yu san, 10 years ago.
インドネシアのビンギンという極上のチューブ波が割れるポイントでヴィラをやっているのが遊さんだ。遊さんは中学を卒業してから高校へは行かず、サーフィンがしたいという理由でオーストラリアに渡った。そこで10数年過ごしているうちに、今度はインドネシアのバリの波に惹かれてしまってバリのビンギンというローカルなサーフスポットで宿を始めた。
Yu san owns a villa at Bingin which produces the high quality and consistency of the perfect left-hand barrel. Just after graduate of a junior high school, he moves to Australia for surfing. After spending 10 years in Australia, he is addicted to the perfect barrel at Bingin then he started to build villa there.
いまから20年前というと近代＋観光地化したバリとは大違いで事業を始めるのは大変なことが多かったと思う。そんなことは一切感じさせず、遊さんはいつも飄々としている。遊さんの人柄に惹かれて、バリを訪れるたびに遊さんに会いに行き、インドネシアのこと、サーフィンのことなど色々教えてもらった。サーフボードも遊さんにお願いしてずっと作ってもらっている。インドネシア支社の立ち上げも遊さんにアドバイスをもらったことは大きい。
Easy to imagine the situation at that time in Bali was totally different from the current modernized and tourist resort. It was not easy for foreign people to make a new business but he is always kind and friendly nice guy. Every time I visited Bali, I drink with him and got a lot of things about Indonesia, surfing and so on, using surfboards made by him. Thanks to him, we could found the Indonesian branch.
そんな遊さんに影響を受けたことの一つが山登りだ。「山ちゃん(僕のこと)、サーフィンなんかより山だよ、高い山登って酸素薄いところから帰ってくるとぶっ飛べるよ」と何度も聞かされた。毎年ヒマラヤに行くようになり、小学生のようなキラキラした遊さんを見ていて、とうとう僕も羨ましくなり3年前にヒマラヤに行った。僕が登ったのはせいぜい5000ｍ後半のピークだったが、なかなかぶっ飛べた。「さすが遊さん。」と遊さんの偉大さを再認識した。
He gave me a lot of influence, one that is mountains. “Yama, The high mountain is pretty dope you must go to Himalayas. After being the high attitude and back, you can have awesome feeling!”, he told me every time we meet like a child. Finally following his advice, I was in Himalayas and found it “Oh, this is it, Yu san told me”. as I thought, he is the great guru for me.

来週から遊さんがバリから移住したインドネシアのローカル島、スンバワに遊さんに会いに、また新たな挑戦をしているとのこと。遊さんに久しぶりに会えるのは本当に楽しみだ
Next I will go to Sumbawa, an Indonesia local island, to meet Yu san, so excited to feel his new challenge again.
