Interview
 Web Developer

Dirga Paradila

Web Developer

My name is Dirga Paradila, born 29 years ago in Tabanan, Bali. I am a web developer and a graphic designer. I studied IT at a public university in Bali. Before working as a full-time web developer, I worked as a freelance web developer and graphic designer for almost 9 years. I have had the opportunity to work with several international clients around the world. I lay my passion for both designing and programming.

Why did you choose Grune?

A dilemma of choosing a path to become a full-time designer or programmer brought me to Grune. Working in design requires extra creativity and inspiration is not always your good friend. I thought that I had enough of these and then I turned myself into a full-time programmer. I applied to Grune and get welcomed by Mr. Ida which I did not expect to be a young man with many life experiences, talking behind the phone. We started with 4 people and never knew we could grow this fast.

How is the Grune working atmosphere?

To be honest, the first month of work was quite a challenge. We did not know each other that much and trust was something we built along the way. I have learned a lot from these great people around me. Being a programmer, I realized technical skill is not the first on the list. Communication and writing skills come first. We did not know that back then. Today, I am trusted to lead a small team consisting of 3-4 developers. I shall retain this responsibility the best I could.

What do you think about Japanese Members?

It may sounds cliche but the Japanese team is indeed very supportive and kind. Even with the language barriers, we both have, they never hesitate to support everything every time.

How is the general manager?

The manager in Bali has what it takes to be a great conductor of the Bali office. The man is wise as a leader and is young enough to have fun with. He can be funny and hilarious at the right time. Most importantly he listens to every member both as a leader and a friend. I learned many great things from his leadership.

In your opinion what is the excellence of Grune?

Grune has to be one of the best places in their field that you should consider to be working in. We have been working and collaborating overseas without almost any issue even in this uncertain time. The company appreciates every member. It also exposes you to international working experience which I enjoy the most when I was working as a freelancer.

Why did you choose the IT field for your career?

If I was not a web developer, I would have been a full-time graphic designer. Being a designer requires a huge amount of creativity, not everyone has that, and certainly, I am not one of them. Furthermore, inspiration does not always come to you. I thought it would be hard for me to work full-time with all these limitations I have. Here I am now being a code writer.

What kind of company would you like Grune to be in the future?

I hope Grune could always be a fun workplace as it is right now for all of us. I hope Grune will be the best workplace to innovate, learn, and practice the latest technologies, etc.

What is your current responsibility for Grune?

As a member, I am responsible to participate in keeping the working experience great for others. As a web developer, I am responsible for improving the company and assure its product quality, especially in the frontend area which I am most capable of. Building something easy to use is difficult. As a team leader, I am responsible for managing my small team, assisting them with various information, keeping the assignment and workflow stay fluent.

What is your dream job?

Well, I actually have no preference for what my dream job is. I enjoy working in fields that I am passionate about. Sadly I only have two which are designing and programming. Other than that, the people and the working environment take the most important role in creating such an enjoyable working experience. I love learning new things related to my passion. So, as long as the job allows me to learn and practice new things and technologies, I would love to call it my dream job. In regard to the working location, I am highly interested in working in foreign countries.
